How to Apply

 

Step 1 (Registration/Enrolment)

  1. Attend one mandatory Information Session (see Schedule of Activities)
  2. Register with CareerCentral @ Western (careercentral.uwo.ca) by clicking the 'Applications' tab (demo at the Information Session)
  3. Attend Preparatory Workshop (see Schedule of Activities)
  4. Department approves student applications based on academic achievement (see Minimum Qualifications)
  5. Have your resume reviewed by Dan Shrubsole, the course coordinator and/or Sarah Dawson, the Social Science Career Counsellor

Step 2 (Viewing Positions)

Once you have been approved visit the secure Career Centre @ Western Web Site on a regular basis between November and July to view the internship job descriptions and interview schedules. An Internship Calendar summarizes employer job descriptions and upcoming deadline dates.

Step 3 (Applying to Positions)

  1. Read carefully each job descriptions (on the web page) to determine: application deadline date, interview dates, length/dates of internship, requested degree programs, and method of application.
  2. Prepare your application documents (as requested by employer) and submit by the specified deadline date.

Step 4 (Interviews)

All internship students who receive an interview will be notified by email. You will also see these interview requests when you login to CareerCentral. Interviewees should sign up for an interview through CareerCentral as soon as possible to secure your time. Most interviews will be held on campus, but some interviews may be off-campus or by telephone.

Step 5 (Job Offers)

Employers will contact Career Centre @ Western with job and salary offers. Students have 48 hours to accept or decline the offer. All students should seriously consider a job offer before acceptance.

Note: Reneging on a job offer after it has been accepted is not permitted.
